About Us

In 1988, the Bemis family began their journey in Spokane’s shed industry, founding one of the city’s earliest shed businesses. Led by Paul Bemis, a master carpenter and home builder, the company gained a reputation for quality and integrity.  Jay was on the job site assisting his father from a very early age.  The job site became a classroom where Jay he learned all things carpentry.

Taking the reins in 2004, Jay grew the family business, overseeing the construction of countless sheds, garages, and shops. In 2015, Jay and Rachelle, his wife, ventured into building their first new home, sparking a newfound passion that led to the birth of Bemis Homes Inc. Driven by their love for crafting beautiful homes, Jay and Rachelle redirected their focus, ultimately selling the original shed company to devote themselves entirely to home building. As the years unfolded, they honed their skills, delving deeper into real estate, building science, and the art of functional and elegant home design. Yet, their journey came full circle as clients continuously sought assistance in creating a backyard structure that complemented their new home. Jay and Rachelle realized the need for a more crafted, high-end backyard building, in turn, they embarked on a new venture, launching Spokane Shed Company in the fall of 2023.

The Bemis family continues their heritage by allowing their children the opportunity to learn carpentry and customer service, and by instilling integrity and character by serving our customers well.  Jay and Rachelle commit to providing our customers with a wonderful product.  Thank you for supporting our small business.
